Work Experience
June 2019 – Present
Big Data Software Engineer II
- Saved Stare Farm and its policy holders ~$6M+ annually by developing infrastructure and code to migrate/convert ~13B+ documents (40B+ objects; 3 Petabytes) from a legacy storage solution (Hadoop) to AWS
- Support a 24/7/365 high volume Storage and Retrieval application that stores ~3M and retrieves ~3.5M documents a day, equating to about 1-3TB of data per day, for nearly all lines of business at State Farm. This is the largest operational workload going to AWS at State Farm today
- Utilize Terraform, Datadog, and the following AWS services: Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, IAM, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Snow Family (Snowballs)
- Built out Jenkins and UrbanCode pipelines to efficiently deploy code in a structured manner through our 100+ test and production servers
May 2018 – August 2018
Technology Specialist Intern
- 1 of 4 workers who installed over 700 Aruba Wireless Access Points around 16 different schools in just under a month (An approximately $300,000 project).
- Worked with the School’s Database Management System, known as Destiny, to keep track of, change, and add new technology assets within the school district.
- Shadowed a Systems Analyst to learn how SQL is used/written to pull data from their database to send to vendors. I also experienced other queries written in SQL to pull requested data for in-district needs.
February 2014 – February 2017
Cashier & Grocery Clerk
- Greeted customers and determined their specific needs.
- Accurately maintained cash drawer and handled cash, credit, check and mobile payments.
- Took Inventory, accounted for incoming stock and broke down shipments accordingly.
Volunteer Experience
August 2016 – May 2017
Food Packager
- Volunteered within Waubonsee Business Club to package and ship food to 70 different countries to children in need.
- Packaged a total of 82 boxes of food, equating to 17,712 meals, enough to feed 49 kids for a year.
August 2016 – May 2017
Litter Removal Service
- Volunteered within Waubonsee Business Club to remove litter from Route 47 in Sugar Grove, IL.
- Filled approximately 30 bags of trash from the highway as a group and recycled what we could.

Introduction to object-oriented programming, algorithmic design and analysis, web programming, and graphical user interfaces. Python is the language used in the course.
Design and implementation of large-scale problems; abstract data types; data structures (files, sets, lists, stacks, queues, and trees), program verification and complexity; recursion; dynamic concepts; input and output; text processing; an introduction to searching and sorting, and documentation standards.
Introduction to analysis of finite collections and mathematical foundations of sequential machines, computer system design, data structures and algorithms. Topics include sets and logic, sequences, subscripting and arrays, number systems, counting, recursion, graph theory, trees, nets, Boolean algebra, automata, and formal grammars and languages. Formal proofs (including induction) are introduced early in the course and addressed throughout the course. Connections between the mathematical theory and corresponding computer science applications.
Within a small team of 5 we are creating a web application using Django, PostgreSQL, and Python to create an inventory tracking system for hospitals/clinics to use in Botswana, Africa; outcomes include written documentation, presentation, and project report.
Computer communications: computer-communication system, hardware, data transmission principles; examples of existing communication networks; related managerial issues.
Design and implementation of an information system; emphasis on programming with Java and management of the software development life cycle.
Introduction to algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming constructs to solve business problems.
Used software such as Factset, Bloomberg and Excel to analyze and execute financial situations
Learned how to transform raw data to useful information using statistics and visualization with Excel; used various statistical tests to determine the correct business decision to make given the information
Data-driven approach to improve business processes; value-stream map analysis of industrial and service-oriented business processes to identify improvement opportunities; discrete-event simulation tools utilized to model business processes and demonstrate effect of variability on process performance metrics; role of information systems to increase an organization’s efficiency and sustainability; application of lean principles to support environmental integrity and economic viability.
Learned how to write SQL queries and used Oracle Application Express (APEX) to create a database application on a web browser for hypothetical business situations.
Manipulated data into insight using statistics and optimization using advanced applications in Microsoft Excel and Access. I made several Access databases for hypothetical small businesses situations, and used Tableau to create an interactive map to display data.
